Lower Elementary Downstairs

Bonjour! Well, it’s been another eventful week in Lower Elementary! We’ve made lots of changes that we’re all excited about and certainly looking forward to what’s to come! Our week started with an entertaining and educational assembly about keeping the ocean clean by the Middle Years students, and lessons this week have been on everything from “Roots” to “Five Kingdoms” to the “Story of Numbers” (the Fifth Great Lesson).

Journal work has also been fun and several of the children have asked if they would be allowed to bring in their own journals. We would like to let parents know that we encourage children to take pride and ownership in their work and would welcome any personal journals that the children would like to bring in. We do ask that if the children choose to do so that the journals have no cartoon characters on the covers or pages. For most children, lined paper also works best. We do want to add that this is certainly not necessary; the school provides journals for the children, and this is simply an additional option if children would prefer. Please note that if they choose to bring in a journal, it should be clearly labeled with their names and it would have to remain at school.

Please remember every child should have his/her own bottle of sunscreen at school for recess and PE.
