Week of October 19-23

Hafa Adai!  We have had another fabulous week, with diverse lessons, experiences and lots of interesting follow-up work.   We started the week enjoying another Great Lesson, “The Story of the Coming of Life”, and many of our activities have been derived from this.  On Tuesday, we enjoyed our second ‘Beach Clean-Up’ and came back with some very interesting specimens, shells, and a lot of trash.  In Language, “Compound Words” have been the talk of the class and Math facts with our “finger boards” have been in constant use.

Several of our students have started on local Cayman Islands studies as well as exploring our seafaring history by making antique “compass roses”.   “Timeline work” is also continuing, including the study of how and why we tell time in increments of five, to the larger aspects of looking at civilizations and countries and how they evolved over time. Our study of the roots continues with a variety of engaging experiments as well as research into the different kinds of roots both globally and here in Grand Cayman.
