Bonjour!

The students recently completed the third unit, in which they learned how to make a telephone call and to decline invitations. They also learned how to give various excuses in French, such as ‘I can’t. I have to walk the dog’, ‘I have to look after my brother’ and ‘I must tidy my room’. The students enjoyed taking the roles in our soap opera, which summarizes the language covered in each unit.

We are currently working on leisure activities and daily routine, and the students have been learning how to make their language more detailed by adding time expressions and connectives in the context of saying what sports they take part in and which instruments the play.

Salut!

Bonjour!

The students are making fantastic progress in the French programme. We have now finished a unit on school, in which the students have been revising time, discussing timetables, and comparing school life in France and in the Cayman Islands. We also studied French handwriting and the class enjoyed practising writing their names, using this script.

We have recently been working hard on verbs ending in ‘-er’ in the present tense and the very important verbs, avoir and etre. We are currently studying a unit on pass-times and we shall continue to learn both present and past tense phrases, in the context of sports and hobbies.

Salut!

Bonjour!

We have already completed three chapters on our current unit on ‘Television, Cinema and Going Out’. The students have enjoyed the unit so far, as it has given them the opportunity to discuss and give opinions on their favourite television programmes and the different kinds of movies they like to watch. We learned the 24-hour clock and looked at how to say what we are going to do. This week, our attention has been focussed on asking someone if they would like to do something and arranging times and places to meet.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Bonjour!

The students have been learning about health and fitness over the past few weeks. They did some role play, in which they used French exclamations to help them ‘complain’ that a part of their body was hurting. Much fun was had with this activity! The students have also been learning to say how they feel.

They are preparing to sit a speaking test this week, in which they will take the roles of a doctor and a patient. We will also look at advice on what is good and bad for one’s health and the students will have the opportunity to agree or disagree with the advice!

Salut!

The class has also been studying French accents and learning the French names for them. This week, the students are learning about how to describe their own and someone else’s character. It always proves to be a fun and interesting topic!
