It’s Spooktober!
The Grade 1’s have been hard at work creating Halloween projects with which they can take home and decorate their houses! We’ve made ghosts, pumpkins, and even Frankenstein! Next month we are going to explore stars, plants, and animals.
So far the mediums we’ve worked with in Upper Elementary have been pencil and watercolour, so it was time to branch out and use a totally new media in Upper Elementary – scratch art! Scratch art uses metal tools to etch on thick black paper with silver underneath it. We have taken what we have learned about the planets and created a mini solar system on our Scratch Art boards. We also created some beautiful symmetrical negative space collages. Please see the student art below. And for Halloween some students made creative lanterns using tracing paper.
Next month we’re going explore Ancient China, using rice paper.
