January

Our theme for January was “Fish and Birds.” We got a new class pet- a fish named “Ichthus,” and practiced our observation skills by watching the fish and identifying its parts. This practice was related to our Grace and Courtesy lessons, as students learned the importance of observing their friends without interrupting. We are starting to see more concentration in the classroom as more friends are acknowledging this important rule.

Many students are now quite adept at identifying whether a creature is a mammal, fish, bird, or “something else” based on classification characteristics.

Our Continent of study was Asia. We made and sampled egg drop soup and spring rolls- activities that involved many coordination skills such as grating, cutting, and peeling. Students let us know whether they “liked it,” “loved it,” or it was “not my new favorite.”
