Celebrating Earth Day
In celebration on Earth Day on April 21st, the Grade 1 and Upper Elementary students are working on the same project – with some very different outcomes so far!
The Blue Marble is a famous photograph of the earth taken on 7 December, 1972 by the Apollo 17 Space Crew, from about 45,000 kilometres (28,000 mi) from earth. We’re using that photo to create our own set of marble works with the Grade 1’s using watercolour paint, and the Upper Elementary students using crayon, coloured pencil, pastel, or oil pastels. This project will take a few weeks to complete, and I’m eagerly awaiting their final projects.
Also please note that the Middle Years students will be holding an Art Show to showcase their artwork created during Term 2. It will take place this Friday, 4 May at 3:30pm in the Middle Years/Upper Elementary classrooms. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy some great art, and tasty goodies baked by the MYP students.
