October Music
October has flown by, and the students have all been busy incorporating Halloween into music!
The Toddlers have been singing about scary spiders on the floor, 5 little pumpkins, and ghosts and witches!
The Casa students have also been singing about spooky spiders, and practicing Halloween Skeleton rhythms using rhythm sticks as ‘bones’. We also have been practicing drawing our rhythms, using the white board paddles. We know ‘long’ (quarter note) and ‘short-short’ (eighth notes).
The Elementary students have been working on ‘Danse Macabre’ by Camille Saint-Saëns. Using a listening map to distinguish melodies, we heard ghosts, skeletons, and even a rooster!
The Middle Years students are now quite proficient on the handbells! They’ve been using 2 and 3 bells and are able to sight read (play a brand new piece) songs with ease. I’m really looking forward to working on the vocal side of the curriculum in the next month.
