A New Year in Music!
January has been a busy month in Music! The classes have all started using a variety of rhythm and percussion instruments.
The Casa students have been exploring ‘keeping the beat’ using beanbags. We’ve also been practicing solfège, adding to our skills with ‘Do, Mi, Sol, and La’.
Lower Elementary classes have started using drums to express simple rhythms from the Smart Board to the drum. We used caterpillar, glow worm, bee, and butterfly. The Grade 3 and 6 classes even added their own creatures to create even more rhythms!
The Upper Elementary students have started reading in compound time (that is music that is divisible by 3, not 2).
Next month all of the classes will begin to practice our NCFA selections.
