Primary Football League

Its that time of the year again….

South Sound United is our school football team which is comprised of players from both MBTS, First Baptist Christian School (FBCS) and sometimes Hope Academy. We play in the CUC Primary Football League (PFL). The season runs from Sept – January and games begin in October.

In the 4 years since we have joined the league our teams have done remarkable.

In the past we have had training once a week with games every Saturday. U9 usually play at 9-10am and U11 at 10-11.15am. These games are played at different locations around the island. Training is usually held at the First Baptist field but it often floods during rainy season so we are constantly on the look out for somewhere new to train.

During September we are planning one weekday session and one session on Saturdays. Days and times to be confirmed next week.

To be eligible for training your child must be in at least Grade Two this school year. To play in the Under 9s, players need to be 8 and under by March 1, 2013. To be eligible for Under 11s, players need to be 10 and under by July 1, 2013.

Both new players and past players wishing to try out for South Sound United U9 or U11 Team are welcome.

Because this is a competitive school league a certain skill level is needed by the children for their own safety. During September everyone is welcome to train and at the end of the month a squad is picked for the U11 and U9 teams.

Our “try outs” are done on an observation basis. The coaches pick children at an appropriate skill level for the PFL and who also showed a great desire for the game, positive attitude and good sportsmanship. The children that do not make the squad are invited to continue training in a B squad with the hopes they will be ready to move up to the squad in the coming months or be ready for the following season. This all depends on the amount of parent volunteers we have to coach.

Our school taking part in the league, would not be possible without the commitment and effort that is put in by our parent/ staff coaches.

This year I am in search of coaches for the U9 group I do have one FB parents who can only help out only on Saturdays. The U11s will be coached once again by Mr Chad and is being assisted this year by Chris Hew.

If your child is interested in taking part please email me directly with your childs name, DOB and what team they would like to try out for.

If you are willing to either head coach the U9s or assist as a coach please let me know as soon as possible.
