September: A great month in Music!!!!

A Great Month in Music!

September has been a fantastic month in music! The toddlers have been playing with shakers, rhythm sticks, and hand drums. All of the Elementary and Middle Years students have been learning about the Baroque Era, Antonio Vivaldi and his four-part masterpiece “The Four Seasons”.

The Grade 3 and Grade 4 students have been learning how to play recorder… blowing softly and steadily makes the best sound!!  The Grade 5 students are enjoying making beautiful music on the steel pans, while the Grade 6 students have been playing handbells.  The Middle Years students have been working with drums–  demonstrating techniques for playing various types of drums and other percussion instruments, and improvising new drumming ensemble patterns.  All of our musical talent will be demonstrated at our holiday concert on December 6th at Mary Miller Hall, so mark your calendars, as we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to!

We are looking forward to our Halloween rhythms and some new Halloween games in October!!
