How Far We’ve Come in Casa 1!
“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.” – Maria Montessori
As we reflect back on our school year in Casa 1, we are delighted to see all the hard work and progression each individual child has made. The materials we use in our classroom hold true to our philosophy, and the spectacular way the children grasp concepts and challenge themselves to keep pursuing their next personal goal continually astonishes us as educators.
We have supported each child by mindfully modelling the virtues of kindness, patience, gratitude, respect, teamwork, honesty, courage, self-discipline and diligence. Each time we saw the children individually practice and embed these virtues in the classroom, we also observed them form a harmonious and beautiful community in Casa 1. Maria Montessori aptly refers to the classroom as a community, and to witness how the children have flourished in this nurturing, thriving community makes all the hard work we collectively have done extremely rewarding.
As we say farewell to our third-year Kindergartners, we are excited for our first and second-year students to take on their new roles as the older students in the environment. We know that they will set an excellent example for the first-year and new students entering our classroom this upcoming 2019-2020 school year.
We wish everyone a safe and happy summer holiday! We look forward to hearing all about the exciting and fun adventures the children encounter over the summer!
