The Heroes of LEU

They may not be firefighters or doctors (yet), but the students of LEU are already real-life heroes.

When school closed on March 13th, nobody could have predicted that we wouldn’t be back for the entire year. In an instant all routines, schedules, playdates and birthday parties had gone out the window. However, despite all of this upset and uncertainty, LEU continued to thrive.

As individuals, our students took on the daunting task of adapting to an entirely different way of learning from their homes. Quickly becoming savvy computer experts, they were teaching us tricks before we knew it!

As a community, we stayed connected. Zoom calls, Team chats and voice notes became our everyday realities. Students shared projects and stories, drawings and jokes. They leaned on one another and helped each other along – even if they didn’t know it at the time.

There’s no denying it was hard, very hard at times. We’re sure there were some tears and difficult days. LEU continued to push on though – one foot in front of the other. As the days passed, a sense of normality returned – our amazing students had adapted to what, at times, seemed like an impossible situation.

So, we applaud all 30 of you. You’ve taught us the meaning of perseverance, adaptability and bravery. Each and every one of you should be incredibly proud of your accomplishments this year, in the classroom and at home – we certainly are. You are our real-life heroes!

Congratulations on an amazing and very memorable year.
