MBTS Celebrates 20 Years!
The 2020-2021 school year promises to be a very special one in Montessori By The Sea’s history: This year marks our twentieth anniversary!
MBTS officially opened its doors on September 4, 2000, welcoming its first Toddler and Casa children to a loving, joyful environment that had been especially and carefully built with the child in mind. Inspired by their own young children, who were among MBTS’s first students, Ms. Debbie and Ms. Kourtni had a clear vision for a community that allows for, nurtures and inspires a legacy of limitless possibilities.
That was twenty years ago, and the MBTS community has been blessed beyond measure. The school’s motto, “…like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season…” (Psalm 1:3) was chosen to reflect Ms. Kourtni and Ms. Debbie’s faith and gratitude, and their staunch belief when children are nurtured, they are fruitful, they blossom and they prosper.
Looking back over the years, Ms. Debbie and Ms. Kourtni’s dream has become a reality. The dream takes shape in MBTS’s first graduates now having university degrees and starting their own journeys; in how the school community grows and improves with each passing year; in the students who enrich our lives, allowing us to learn from them each day; in the staff who nurture, love and guide; and in the families who encourage and support us along the way. And the dream continues, with every child, family and staff member here today.
Every child and family at Montessori By The Sea are a part of this special legacy, and we cannot wait to see all of the wonderful things that the next twenty years will bring.
To celebrate this milestone year, MBTS is planning twenty special community events – both big and small – that will take place throughout the year: MBTS’s 20 for 20!
We started with a small celebration for teachers and staff on the school’s actual birthday on Sep. 4th: the entire staff gathered under the trees outside to share some food and refreshments, and Ms. Debbie and Ms. Kourtni were surprised earlier in the morning with meaningful, congratulatory messages from the staff.
For the second installment of MBTS’s 20 for 20, on Monday, September 28th, children in Kindergarten and Elementary will be treated to a special story of the school’s beginnings. The story and presentation will be told by Ms. Debbie and Ms. Kourtni, and will feature images from the school as it was built.
Please continue to watch out for this series of community events throughout this very special school year!
