Celebrating New Beginnings and Light
The inter-connectedness of all living things – and consequently, all human cultures – is a pervading and primary concept in Montessori education.
In addition to the different cultures that are studied as part of integrative continent, country and civilization themes and projects, children at MBTS are always encouraged to share special customs, traditions and celebrations that they celebrate with their families. Doing so exposes all children in our community to unique and beautiful aspects of different cultures, and elicits pride in cultural heritage.
Recently, students in Lower Elementary had the pleasure of learning about the vibrant celebration of Diwali from their classmates. Several families in the MBTS community celebrate this wonderful and meaningful Festival of Light, and it was a delight to learn about Diwali festivities from the children.
