MBTS Donates $2500 to Feed Our Future

Feed Our Future Board member Frank Balderamos Jr. accepts the $2500 donation from MBTS Elementary students and Principals, Ms. Debbie and Ms. Kourtni.

June 10, 2021, Prospect, Grand Cayman – As part of its 20th Anniversary, the children of Montessori By The Sea
raised funds and donated CI $2500 to Feed Our Future. Feed Our Future Board Member Mr. Frank Balderamos Jr.
visited the school on June 10, 2021 to receive the donation, and was greeted by a handful of Lower and Upper Elementary students as well as the principals, Ms. Debbie Thompson and Ms. Kourtni Jackson.

In keeping with Montessori philosophy, the students independently selected Feed Our Future as the school’s 20th Anniversary charity partner. During a school assembly in November 2020, Upper Elementary children presented persuasive arguments on different charities and conducted a school-wide vote, with all students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 participating. Feed Our Future emerged as the winner by a landslide.

In a letter acknowledging the donation, Feed Our Future Chairwoman Ms. Stacey Van Develde expressed, “On
behalf of the Feed Our Future Board of Directors I write to recognise and extend sincere thanks to the Montessori
By The Sea
community for selecting Feed Our Future as your Charity Partner and for the generosity shown in raising funds through various initiatives in commemoration of the school’s twentieth anniversary. The funds raised on behalf of Feed Our Future is a wonderful achievement and testament to the community spirit of your school.

Throughout the school year, the children, staff and families of MBTS actively raised funds for two community
initiatives: Feed Our Future and the MBTS Outdoor Classroom & Nature Garden, a planned outdoor learning space
and nature garden on MBTS’s recently-expanded grounds. Fund-raising activities included a “Go Green” Bake Sale,
the “Growing Garden” Online Auction, a dedicated dress-down day and a uniform donation table.

“We are so happy to nurture the virtue of kindness and giving in our school community. Philanthropic initiatives are
considered an important part of our school curriculum and culture. At MBTS, we firmly believe that education
should not just nurture and inspire the child as a curious learner, but as a caring, compassionate member of the community
.” – Ms. Debbie Thompson and Ms. Kourtni Jackson, Principals, Montessori By The Sea
