A Stellar Start in Spanish

¡Hola a todos! Montessori By The Sea’s Spanish lessons are off to a fun start this year. Students are exploring the language through songs, storytelling, and movement. It has been exciting to witness the children’s enthusiasm and eagerness to use Spanish inside and outside of the classroom – check out some of our classroom highlights and upcoming projects below!

Casa students are immersed in a farm-animal themed story, “Los Pollitos Dicen.” The children are enjoying acting out the scenes, creating and reading flipbooks, and singing songs that go with the story. Casa parents can watch for some of these mini-books to come home (great for bedtime stories!)

Lower Elementary students in Grades 1-2 are immersed in the greetings-focused story, “Buenos Días.” They are enjoying reading the pages and acting out the scenes. Grade 1 and 2 parents can watch for some of these mini-books to come home very soon as well! Starting the end of this month and through October, the children will also be learning about Hispanic Heritage Month and Día de los Muertos.

Students in Grades 3-4 have been practicing acting out and expressing emotions through quick, mini conversations and fun language games like charades. Starting the end of this month and through October, they will also be learning about Hispanic Heritage Month and Día de los Muertos.

Grade 5-6 students have rocked it out this month, covering topics like greetings, introductions, emotions, numbers, days of the week, and more! This week, they began preparing a conversational skit in groups and will be starting a Hispanic Heritage Month research project on Monday. We are also excited to be learning about Día de los Muertos in October.

Kindly note that some of these pictures were taken prior to the mask mandate by the Cayman Islands Government.
