The Sounds of Steel Pan and Ukelele Strings in September

This month, students have enjoyed starting back with Music class, as well as enjoying a variety of extra-curricular musical offerings.

Elementary students have been especially enjoying the new addition of ukuleles to the Music programme. There are even two Ukulele Clubs for students to be involved in before school: the Lower El Ukulele Club, and the Upper El Ukulele Club. Students learn how to play the ukulele and hone their skills, so that they can learn a variety of different pieces on the instrument, and have a fun time with friends while doing so!

Students have also been enjoying the addition of Steel Pan Club to our extra-curricular offerings. The Upper El Steel Pan Club rehearse on Friday after school and are currently full, but there is still some space in the Lower El Steel Pan Club that runs on a Tuesday at 1:00 pm, if anyone is interested in joining.

We also have two separate choirs now, rehearsing on Monday at 1:00 pm for Upper Elementary students, and Thursday at 1:00 pm for Lower Elementary students. While we hope to all be able to sing together in one group again soon, we are happy that we are able to still sing together in our bubbles.

All of our Music Clubs aim towards a performance at the end of the term. Depending on the group and the opportunities available, this may either be a live performance (such as school concerts/events, NCFA etc.) or a video performance that will be sent out to parents.

It’s great to be learning a new skill, and get to be sharing the fun we have with our friends and family!
