Recognizing True Gifts in Casa 1
The Casa 1 classroom has been full of joy this holiday season. We have been busy celebrating with arts, crafts, and games. In addition to the fun festivities, we have also had meaningful discussions which allow students recognize how fortunate we truly are here at MBTS.
One important understanding has been the difference between wants and basic human needs. Casa 1 students considered the reality that many people around the world, and on our island, may be less fortunate than our school community. There are many people who do not have access to food, shelter, or clothing. While exploring this topic, we were able to identify the many things we have in our lives to be thankful for.
Of course, the anticipation of opening gifts on Christmas morning is pretty epic for our Casa-aged kiddos, but our goal in this project was to help them realize what the true gifts in life really are. They offered many heart-warming and often hilarious answers! Our hope is for this spirit of gratitude and joy to continue over break and into the New Year!
