From Seed to Sprout
During the Month of April, we explored topics about our ecosystems, and for Earth Day we planted seeds and explored the plant’s life cycle. The children really enjoyed this. They loved watching the seeds grow into sprouts. During circle time we planted the seedlings into small pots and observed how big the roots grow! Now our seedlings have grown into plants! The children are enjoying watching our plants grow and are taking turns watering them.

Ms. Liza introduced them to the song, “My Roots Go Down.” We have included the lyrics in case you want to sing it with them at home!
Chorus:
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down, down to the earth.
My roots go down.
I am a pine tree on a mountainside. (3x)
My roots go down.
I am a wildflower pushing through stones. (3x)
My roots go down.
I am a willow swaying through the storm. (3x)
My roots go down.
I am an ancient redwood tree. (3x)
My roots go down.
I am a mountain reaching for the sun.
I rise with the voice of every living thing.
