Building Confidence Through Drama

It has been a very fun, challenging month in Drama. The children have been building their confidence through drama games, improvisation exercises, team building games and through exploring fairytales and short plays.

Lower Elementary have been developing their improvisation skills by taking fairytales and performing them in front of their friends with very little rehearsal time. We have been learning how different animals  move and what sort of characteristics we would give them by using  different movements and sounds.

Upper Elementary have been working towards a performance through four different plays. We have learned about staging, blocking, character building, voice work and emotions.

The students performed their plays to the school and I was very proud of how much they had grown in confidence this term. They told me that although they were nervous and excited they thoroughly enjoyed performing them. Well done, everyone!
