Mindful Moments in Casa 2

The practice of mindfulness and Montessori education are deeply aligned in practice and theory.  Mindfulness practices aim to cultivate a sense of inner peace and calm amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  Our Montessori environments are likewise calm and peaceful spaces where children can fully immerse themselves in purposeful activities during an uninterrupted three-hour work cycle.   

Both mindfulness exercises and Montessori education also promote the development of concentration skills.  Mindfulness practices such as meditation, yoga and mindful breathing (all of which are practiced in our classroom!) help individuals strengthen their ability to focus, while Montessori materials are designed to foster ever-deepening levels of concentration.  Montessori teachers also work towards fostering each child’s developing concentration by removing unnecessary distractions throughout the day.  This allows the children to fully immerse themselves in the task at hand, holding fast to the present moment.
